At the time of booking, we collect payment in full for reservations of 5 nights or less. For any reservation over 5 nights, we collect the first 5 nights at the time of booking and automatically charge the remainder on your card upon your Cancellation Policy Date. Deposits are fully refundable until your Cancellation Policy Date.


Our standard Cancellation Policy Date is 30 (thirty) days prior to your arrival date unless otherwise stated in your confirmation email for certain times of year (for example, Ironman or holidays which may be 60 (sixty) days prior to your arrival date.)

Any cancellation requests received prior to the Cancellation Policy Date will receive a full refund.  Any cancellation requests received on or after the Cancellation Policy Date will not be refunded.

As a very small hotel, our cancellation policy must be flexible enough to support our guests while also not undermining the financial soundness of keeping the hotel afloat and the staff engaged. An important difference about our special slice of paradise versus the big hotels is that we do not overbook our hotel, so your reserved room is waiting for you. If we provided refunds for last minute cancellations, our sole source of income would be greatly impacted. On the other hand, we want to try our best to support you during these extraordinary times.
In this spirit, we have adopted the following Covid-19 cancellation policy for reservations cancelled within 30 days of arrival due to Covid-19:
  1. A reservation cancelled outside the traditional cancellation period of 30 (or 60) days will receive a full refund.

  2. A reservation cancelled inside the cancellation period of 30 (or 60) will receive a TWO-YEAR credit from the date of arrival for the initial reservation.

  3. A reservation postponed due to Covid-19 may be modified or cancelled within the two-year credit period, but it is not refundable.

  4. This policy applies to Covid-19 concerns only. For all other issues that may cause you to cancel your reservation within the cancellation period, we recommend having travel insurance.

Hawaii state law dictates that there is no smoking allowed in hotel room(s) or lanais/balconies -or- within 20 feet from any building structure or doorway.  The Kona Tiki Hotel strictly enforces this state law.  Guests who would like to smoke are welcome to do so off-property.



No pets allowed except for registered service animals with documents.


We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy.  We may collect personally identifiable information when you visit our site.  We also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, cookie information and the page(s) you visited.  We will not sell your personally identifiable information to anyone.
